Presidential Search Information

The Board of Regents of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) is seeking a visionary leader for its next President. After 29 years at the University and 23 years of service as President, Dr. Daniel H. Lopez has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2016. The University seeks a bold leader to continue to build on a rich history of excellence in education, research and public engagement. 


The search is over. The Board of Regents introduced Dr. Steven G. Wells as the university's new president on Thursday, Feb. 18. Wells will take the helm officially on July 1, 2016. 



The five finalists for the presidency will visit campus February 1 to 5. Click here for the schedule of open forums. 

The final decision will be announced during the Board of Regents meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18.
