SOCORRO, N.M., Jan. 13, 2006 – New Mexico Tech has again been listed among the nation’s top 100 best values in public colleges and universities, according to rankings published in the current issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.

Ranked this year as the 41st overall best value, the state-supported research university in Socorro is the only New Mexico school included the exclusive survey of schools that offer the best combination of high-quality academics and affordable costs.

Kiplinger’s Top 100 Best Values in Public Colleges,” the national magazine’s periodic rankings of public institutions that give college students “the most bang for the buck,” is determined every three years by using information that the schools themselves supplied, along with data and statistics on more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities compiled by Thomson Petersons, which is part of Thomson Learning.

New Mexico Tech is consistently ranked as a “best buy” among the nation’s colleges and universities, having also been included in the 2006 edition of The Princeton Review’s “The Best 361 Colleges” and ranked as the number two “best value college,” according to The Princeton Review’s 2006 edition of its college guidebook, “America’s Best Value Colleges.”
