Demolition of Old Bureau Starts Tuesday

SOCORRO, N.M. December 14, 2015 -- The demolition of the old Bureau of Geology building begins Tuesday, Dec. 15. Crews will take about one week to tear down the building and another three weeks to clean up the site.

Construction of the new Chemistry Building on the same site will begin in mid-January and last 12 to 13 months. The north entrance to Workman Center will be roped off for the next month, but the doors will remain unlocked for emergencies.

Bradbury Stamm Construction was awarded the construction contract at the November meeting of the Board of Regents. Bradbury Stamm also handled the construction of the new Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources building, which was completed earlier this year.
