All Are Invited To Commencement 2015

SOCORRO, N.M. May 4, 2015 – Everyone is welcome to attend the 2015 Commencement ceremony, which will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday on the lawn between Brown Hall and the Library.

Tech expects about 260 students to participate in the ceremony – out of the roughly 400 students who have earned degrees over the past 12 months. Since last year’s graduation, Tech will have awarded 270 bachelor’s, 120 master’s and 15 doctoral degrees.

Limited bleacher seating is available. Those who attend are encouraged to bring camp chairs or folding chairs, as there will be plenty of room for chairs.

After the ceremony, participants and their families are encouraged to attend a reception on the south lawn between Brown Hall and Driscoll Hall to enjoy refreshments and have complimentary pictures taken.

The event will include the announcement of the top student awards – the Brown Award to the top undergraduate student; the Cramer Awards to the top male and female engineering graduates; the Langmuir Award to the graduate student with the most significant research publication; and the Founder’s Award to the graduate student who exemplifies academic excellence and community service.

Tech will also present the Distinguished Researcher Award and the Distinguished Teaching Award, each to a current faculty member.

Other awards presented at graduation will be bestowed by the Alumni Association, the Student Government Association and the Graduate Student Association.

As is Tech’s tradition, the event will not have a keynote speaker. However, a current professor will deliver a “proem” to open the ceremony.
