Students Invited To Apply For Regent Position

SOCORRO, N.M. September 16 2014 – New Mexico Tech is now accepting applications for the position of Student Regent. Israel Rodriguez Rios’s term ends at the end of the year. The next Student Regent will serve from Jan. 1, 2015, to Dec. 31, 2016.

Interested students can pick up an application in Brown Hall 216, the office of the Vice President of Student and University Relations, or online. Click here for the official application. Applicants must also submit a letter of interest, resumé and transcript. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 10.

Students will be interviewed and selected by a committee appointed by university president Dr. Daniel H. López. The committee will submit a short list of names to the Governor’s office for final consideration.

The nominee will not officially assume the seat until the Governor’s selection is confirmed by the New Mexico State Legislature.

To qualify, applicants must meet these requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • New Mexico residency
  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Good academic standing
  • Registered voter
