Global Village Day, International Potluck

SOCORRO, N.M. April 8, 2014 – The annual Global Village Day will feature international students, fine dining and dance and music performances on Thursday, April 10.

The day’s events start with displays from several of the countries represented by the New Mexico Tech student body from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Fidel Atrium. Global Village Day celebrates the international diversity of the Tech student population. International students will set up displays showcasing their home countries, including China, Germany, Croatia, India, Ethiopia, Indonesia and others

The Tea Club will serve teas from around the world throughout the event. Also, the dining hall will feature international cuisine for lunch.

The following performances will be in the atrium:

11 a.m. Taikoza Japanese Drumming and flutes

11:30 a.m. Scottish highland bagpipes

12:30 p.m. Aditi Natesa belly dancers and drummers

1:30 p.m. Coleman Academy of Irish Dance

Also, the annual International Student Potluck will be at 5 p.m. at the at Epiphany Episcopal Church (across Leroy Place from the Skeen Library). All students are welcome to bring a dish of their favorite food from home and sample the cuisine from various cultures of the world. This event is hosted by the Writing Center and the Communication, Liberal Arts and Social Science Department.
