49ers Celebration Schedule Set

The annual 49ers Celebration and Alumni Homecoming has another great series of events for students, alumni, employees and community members.

The ritual trip up the mountain to give the 'M' a facelift begins at 9 a.m. Friday. Interested people should register by noon Thursday by emailing  paintm@nmt.edu.

The parade is at 11 a.m. Saturday morning. This year's theme is "Back to the Future."  See the full schedule below.

Wednesday, Oct. 16

Student events kick off for the annual 49ers Celebration and Homecoming with the "Engineers Barbecue" at 5 p.m. on the athletic field. Movie night starts at 7 p.m., also on the Athletic Field, with $250 of casino dollars for all who attend the movie (for Casino Night on Saturady).

Thursday, Oct. 17

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Alumni sign-in with the Advancement/Alumni Office in the atrium of Fidel Center.

2 to 5 p.m. -- Pink Pong in the Fidel Center atrium.

4-7 p.m. Art Reception. New Mexico Tech's 125th/San Miguel Church's 400th Anniversary Art Show Reception at Macey Center.

6-8 p.m. Opening Reception. Alumni and faculty reception at the home of Dr. Daniel Lopez. Meet and mingle with current faculty members as well as your friends.

6-9 p.m. Old Town Bistro. NMTAA's tribute to the Golden Reunion Class of '63. "The Times They Are A Changin'," featuring Studio 2656, Los Unusual Suspects, Roon, Steve Cather, Audio Frenzy and other guests performing songs by Bob Dylan. Friday, Oct. 18

8 a.m. & 1 p.m. (2 Flights) - Annual SPE Gold Rush Golf Tournament. Benefits the student chapter of Society for Petroleum Engineers. 4 man scramble. Alumni: $349 per team, $140 individual. 9 a.m. Paint the "M" Mountain Run. RSVP by noon, October 17 at  paintm@nmt.edu. Meet at the field on Buck Wolfe Drive to catch the shuttle. Take Canyon Road past the golf course and turn right at the stop sign (Buck Wolfe Drive).

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Alumni sign-in with the Advancement/Alumni Office in the atrium of Fidel Center.

10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Campus Tours. Each will last about an hour. Meet on the first floor of Fidel and a High Tech Ambassador will lead you on the tour.

10 a.m and 2 p.m. Meet the NRAO with Dr. Dave Westpfahl. Limited to 15 people. RSVP soon!

Drunk Driving Simulator, presented by Alcohol Safety Awareness Program (ASAP). Friday afternoon in the Macey Center parking lot.

3:30 p.m. Tailgate party at the Athletic Field prior to the rugby game. 

4:30 p.m. Traditional Black and Blue Rugby Match. The Pygmies vs. Alumni Ancestors. Food, merchandise, and play by play commentary for the rugby neophyte.

6 p.m. Undie run/green mile. Donate clothes to the local homeless shelter and run a mile in your underwear. Meet at the Athletic Field.

6 -8 p.m. Decades Alumni Reunion. The reception will be on the third floor of Fidel. We have an area reserved for each decade of graduates. Appetizers will be served and a cash bar made available.

8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Waffle Rave in the SAC

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Knife throwing demonstration on the Athletic Field
