New Mexico Tech Listed as "Best Value" in The Princeton Review

by George Zamora

SOCORRO, N.M., April 24, 2007 – New Mexico Tech is one of the nation’s "best value" undergraduate institutions, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the state-supported research university in the new 2008 edition of its college guidebook, America’s Best Value Colleges.

The latest edition of the annual guide, which went on sale today, profiles 165 choice colleges from throughout the United States with outstanding academics, generous financial aid packages, and relatively low costs. The Princeton Review also has posted a complete list of the selected schools in the book on its website at www.princetonreview.com.

New Mexico Tech also was included in the category of “Best Western Colleges” in the current edition of America’s Best Value Colleges.

The Princeton Review compiled the ranking list and chose the colleges for the guidebook based on data the company obtained from administrators at more than 650 colleges during the 2005-2006 academic year, as well as from surveys of students attending them.

Says Robert Franek, V.P.-Publishing, The Princeton Review, "We looked at more than 30 factors in four areas — academics, tuition, financial aid and student borrowing — to winnow our list of best value picks. Families shopping for colleges with excellent academics, generous financial aid packages and/or relatively low costs of attendance will find outstanding choices in this book."

America’s Best Value Colleges has three-page profiles on the included colleges, lists of the top 10 best value private colleges and the top 10 best public colleges, and advice about applying for admission and financial aid. It is one of more than 200 Princeton Review books published by Random House over the past 25 years in a line that includes the annual Best 361 Colleges and Paying for College without Going Broke.

Known for its test-prep courses, books, and college and grad school admissions services, The Princeton Review is an education services company, and is not affiliated with Princeton University or ETS.
