SOCORRO, N.M., Aug. 20, 2007 –Several New Mexico Tech entering freshmen are participating in Tech’s five-day Computer Boot Camp — an innovative First-Year Experience program which allows students to build their own desktop personal computer (PC) from scratch and install software on it for their educational use while attending the university. Now in its third year, Computer Boot Camp utilizes recycled parts, chasses, and monitors from surplus computers, putting the machines to better use and better preparing Tech students for their university experience. Pictured putting together a PC are (left to right) Tech freshmen Bryce McKenzie of Barrington, Ill. and Anthony Sanchez of Santo Domingo Pueblo, N.M.
