SOCORRO, N.M., Aug. 17, 2007 – New Mexico Tech has again been highly ranked among the nation’s top universities after being listed as third in “The Top Public Universities — Master’s WEST” category in the latest annual rankings published by U.S.News & World Report in the popular magazine’s America’s Best Colleges guidebook.

New Mexico Tech, a state-supported research university in Socorro, also received national attention earlier this week by being named one of “The 25 Hottest Schools in America” in the 2008 Kaplan/Newsweek “How to Get into College” Guide.

In addition, New Mexico Tech received special mention among universities included in the U.S.News & World Report college guide by being listed as second in a select group of Western regional schools whose students graduate with the least amount of debt. The current survey found that only 36 percent of New Mexico Tech’s Class of 2006 graduated with any debt incurred from pursuing their studies.

U.S.News & World Report’s annual rankings of the nation’s top institutions of higher education are also part of the magazine’s special issue of America’s Best Colleges 2008, which goes on sale Monday, August 20.

The magazine’s current rankings of more than 1,400 universities also will be available online at www.usnews.com.
