SOCORRO, N.M., November 5, 2001 -- New Mexico Tech sophomore John Keith Renouard died Friday, November 2, of injuries sustained in a single-car rollover accident, while enroute to his home in Albuquerque.

He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Carole Renouard of Albuquerque, his brother, James Jordan Renouard of Las Cruces, his grandmothers, and numerous other relatives.

Renouard was attending New Mexico Tech on an academic scholarship, pursuing a degree in computer science. In addition to his studies at Tech, Renouard also was actively involved in the New Mexico Tech Jazz Band.

"John Keith was a great addition to our jazz ensemble when he joined us last year," said Doug Dunston, associate professor of music at Tech and director of the university's music program. "His passion for jazz was evident, as was his quiet, wry sense of humor. He had a particular knack for soloing, and his improvised solos were always confident while being understated, like John Keith himself."

Funeral services for Renouard are scheduled for Wednesday, November 7, at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church in Albuquerque. Family members have asked that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to New Mexico Tech's music program.
